Keeping in mind it can be useless (or waste of time now), you can provide your own configuration settings for PAL.
Also a side note, channels provide customized configuration for each channel, you can set things like preferred_state independently for each channel. Basically, channels means making what is already possible easy and customizable without having to pass in explicit config files on the command-line #> pear -c pal.conf install MVCnPHP This is basically the same thing if pal.conf specifies the master_server as pal.whatever.it.is Greg
