With the recent proposal of Savant the mess that templates are in PEAR has raised its ugly head again.I don't think that is something that ugly. There are 4 options.
I would like to propose that we pick one engine, Say Flexy or Xipe, and implement all the other templates in pear as wrappers and drop the rest. What would be the advantage ? Beside I don't think that Flexy lead would love to merge with Xipe or Sigma or the other way around.
Either we have 1 engine and multiple api's and fix mistakes of the past or we allow competition, this double standard just doesn't cut it.We do have a new standard but this doesn't mean that old package should be out. Cheers David Costa
