No need to rush. The move to PHP5 is a long one, and there will be a
large window of time when not all pieces will be there. It's natural,
acceptable and, given the time it will take for webhosting providers to
move to PHP5, probably a good thing.
OT: I'll take the opportunity to suggest HTTP_Request use the same
pluggable Backend design XML_RPC2 uses. It would allow for the use of
cURL when the extension is available, and plain PHP sockets when it is
not there. Implementing a solid HTTP library is quite a lot of work, and
I have a lot of confidence in cURL which has covered a lot of miles by now.
