Hold on! Before anyone yells, hear me out. I have seen that some on the list
consider SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/general/soapspec.asp) a joke, and many of
you may not be familiar with BizTalk, but they are based on Userland's XML-RPC
spec (http://www.xmlrpc.org). While the standard is from Microsoft (whom i am
personally anti), and Dave Winer (who is a egotist jackass extraordinaire), it
makes a lot of sense, and is going to be fairly widely supported (I believe the
folks at Digital Creations are going to do so).
Now, I am looking to produce a reference implementation of SOAP in PHP.
If someone else is working on this, I'd be glad to help. Otherwise I will do
it myself. In addition, I plan to add BizTalk functionality as well. This will
allow interaction between PHP applications (like the one I'm building for a
customer) to interact with non-php applications and services (like Windows DNA,
and Microsoft's BizTalk server, VB, Perl, Java) in a simple, but non-trivial
way using XML.
Now, my question is just this, anyone working on this? Is anyone interested in
this?
