SOAP sends them as XML (strings of uncompressed > text), so I would think that SOAP would be slower then CORBA. > Right, I agree. XML based transport is slow and well crazy. BTW, it is compressed if you use HTTP1.1, but there is no doubt that SOAP will be massively slower than CORBA. > Thats what scares me. A protocol that you can NOT stop from going over a > firewall. Does that scare the crap out of anyone else? Why do you think MS > is pushing such a protocol so hard? > The whole firewall thing is a complete nightmare. Everyone and there brother is trying to push things through port 80 to circumvent the firewall. While I have argued and argued and argued in FAVOR of appropriate security measures that can be implemented, businesses still tend to gravitate toward the quick workaround at the price of security. And when that workaround comes from Microsoft a lot people are going to jump on board. I regret to say SOAP's going to be huge. --pk
