ICK.... VI. :) Rather than getting vi, go with the latest version of either
Xemacs or Gnu Emacs. Both run quite well on NT and W9X. Much Nicer IMNSHO.

gvim (graphical vim, vim == vi modified) is THE answer, if you don't have
too big a problem with vi.
However, it's INFINITELY better, vi has too many limitations (e.g..
multibuffering), gvim has innumerable improvements, and is very stable,
multiplatform, ...
Make sure you install a full version from www.vim.org.
NB it's a very rich site, you have to look for a mirror.
Then for W98, I downloaded gvim**.zip and vim**rt.zip.
I installed 56 a few months ago and it's a delight !!! I see they're now at
57. I need to install it on my linux box.
