Does anyone have any good project ideas for a beginning programmer. I've gone through many of the PHP tutorials and found them useful, but I think that if I start tying more things from scratch I'll reinforce things that I'm beginning to learn. and if anyone has any decent ideas that will help me master web development oriented programming, I'd appreciate the input.
I would suggest picking something which really interests you. Learning on a subject you dont really care for, or have little interest in can make you loose interest quickly in what you are doing. My first project was putting my Bootleg CD List into a database. The reason I chose this, was firstly because ive been wanting to databaseise (is that a word ? :) it for a while, and after looking into PHP, I realised that it was not too dificult to start on, and allowed me to use 3 tables interacting into 1 record........ Artist Title Track I dont know about you, but this one really helped me out. Then I was able to do other things to is. Like learning how to do more indepth Mathematical calculations and put up statistics pages (How many titles each band has to their name in my list, average number of titles per CD etc.)..... Ill stop rambling now, but I found that choosing something that I was interested in really helped me to learn how things get done. Chris --
