Best thing you can do is find something useful to do for yourself and finish
it.
Often people start on hypothetical projects and finish em without learning
much because they didnt have a real end-user.
If you do something you need, you'll be your own end user which'll be easier
for your first project.
When is started web programming i made up a list of things id find handy and
did em.
I started with a simple address book, then a msg board then a Stock Quote
garbber from our stock exchange then a grapher for the data.
I leant most once i started to really use it and work out how it needed to
be improved. Often with Hypothetical projects + Tutorials you dont get this
far.

Subject: project ideas
Does anyone have any good project ideas for a beginning programmer. I've
gone through many of the PHP tutorials and found them useful, but I think
that if I start tying more things from scratch I'll reinforce things that
I'm beginning to learn. and if anyone has any decent ideas that will help me
master web development oriented programming, I'd appreciate the input.

J.
