You obviously haven't used VIM (since no real VI exists, exept on Solaris and
other hardcore unices) in a while. If you *really* think using a mouse is
faster than typing in commands you've probably fallen off the deep end. I have
macros for everything - want the GPL at the top of my code type in a simple
command and presto! GPL is there, syntax highlighting is gorgeous, find/replace
is the best, and best of all VIM is on EVERY platform.
I could use notepad or some other GUI editor, but why get used to something you
can only use on a certain percentage of machines. When I program or learn
something I think about portability - which is the reason I learned UNIX. If I
learn one program on a POSIX box I know it will be there on the next POSIX box
I work on.
So make fun of us VIM users - say we are 30 years behind - but at least I know
my favorite editor will be on every box I use - after ALL it IS a POSIX
standard :OP
