Yeah this is the only way you can get away with adding something like
implied rights or other more advanced features.
Basically you are doing classic denormalization:
Trade storage space and update speed for faster read speed.
For data that is complex to fetch from the normalized source and that
sees a lot more reads than updates, such as this, it makes a lot of
sense.
LiveUser currently only stores the serialized permission array during
the life of a session. I would love to change this that the permission
array is serialized at first use and then whenever the underlying data
changes it is regenerated.
