Hello, i'm wondering what you think of having larger things like forums in PEAR, or perhaps optionally downloadable, which might be better, since there is no good way of keeping the automatically installed repository updated.
Packages will be distributed across the web, so no problem here. I don't have a strong opinion on including that or not so wait to other opinions.
Great, where, i don't think there's such a web site now? How about a web site? Putting up documentation and bug tracking? Although bug tracking could go to pear-dev i suppose.
I'm thinking of naming it PEAR Forum, if you don't approve you don't have to worry. Anyway, i've written a forum that is designed as a library, so to display a page you do something like this: <?PHP $list = new pear_forum_list(); $list->forum_id = $HTTP_GET_VARS["forum_id"]; $list->offset = $HTTP_GET_VARS["offset"]; $list->display(); ?>
Do you provide a system to integrate the forum users into existing users tables? What about changing the appereance? Localization? Threads? Do I request too much? :-)
Integrated user tables is planned. Skins are currently used. Localisation has to be done on a skin-level. Threads are done, including float to top and threaded/flat view. Please list more requests, i'll try to include as much as possible. Before starting development of phorum4 i've followed discussion on the phorum mailinglist and i have included support for ways to implement pretty much everything usefull that was requested.
One of my needs now is a "easy to integrate" simple forums, so I'll be glad to see the code/doc if it's avaible.
The goal of phorum4 was to have it easy to integrate, i didn't design it to be a beautiful easy to install with nifty interface. It's also designed to be easy to read and well-documented, in opposite to phorum3 which is impossible to read IMHO.
