You got me wrong. I never talked about $this being removed. I
said that the current behaviour of assigning a value in the
constructor to $this and expect it being returned when
creating a new object is considered being a feature and
therefore not guaranteed to work in the future.
That is why we have static factory methods in PEAR.

context.
