I think throwing away php4 compatibilty is a bit to harsh. There are a lot
of people using php4 and they will not upgrade to php5 for a while. I think
that in the worst case senarion we should keep the current state of pear and
start migrating for php5, without changing the existing classes. In a new
repository maybe.
