I totally second this idea. To force people to rewrite their code is not
reasonable (at least in the short run). Over the long run that's a different
story. But for those who will keep running PHP4, this seems the best
solution I have heard so far. Makes for less work for everyone involved
(users, developers, pear maintainers).
