Hi, all, Alexey Borzov wrote:
Do we need dummies as PEAR developers? Thought so.
Everybody is a dummy when they get started with something new. Remember your own days of getting-started; you didn't know anything (none of us did). A little help at the beginning can go a long way toward building good will.
Besides, you complain about the lack of such a guide. What exactly prevents you from writing one yourself?
Not to be ugly, but what prevented the best, most qualified person (the code author) from writing one in the first place? It should not be up to the user to write documentation; it is the responsibility of the code author either to write the docs himself, or to commission someone else specifically to write them (and then review them personally). "Write it yourself" is not helpful, not friendly, raises an unnecessary barrier to entry, and reduces good will. _______________________________________________________________________ Paul M.
