Uhm .. PEAR is three things: 1) the core classes 2) an installer 3) a code repository For 1) and 2) a solution which is planned to be replaced as removed from a php release that is still months, maybe years away. AFAIK the current go-pear.org was intended to be updated, certainly nobody was hoping to ship PEAR 1.3.x with PHP6 .. right? 3) is still alive and kicking ...
