Lukas, I actually liked a proposal that someone else had implemented where they used a callback function in PEAR_Error to throw exceptions. The catch is trying to get everything to work on both PHP4 (PEAR_Error) and PHP5 (PEAR_Exception).I do not think that we really need to integrate this with PHP4. The way I see it its a tool for PHP5 developers. What I do think is that we should start thinking about a cleaned up version of PEAR_Error that is E_STRICT compatible. However I am not sure if we should release this for PHP5 (where we might have missed the boat) but instead prepare ourselves for PHP6 (which might add some more E_STRICT stuff that cannot be done in PHP5).
I'd also like to see integration in PEAR_Exception with PEAR_Error. For instance, I'd like to be able to throw PEAR_Error's as PEAR_Exception's without having to call all sorts of functions. In other words, PEAR_Exception should be aware of PEAR_Error and "import" as much information from the PEAR_Error as possible.Well maybe the new PEAR_Error I am talking about is just a PEAR_Exception that is not "thrown" but instead "returned". I have not really put much thought into that direction. regards, Lukas
