Hum, what about simply cut the pear project in two ?
The old code is maintained for bug fix and few improvement and compatible with
php4, and new one is php5 strict only ?
most distribution are switching to php5 now, so I don't think it is a bad
idea...
ps : I speak for modules like MDB2 and so on...
