There is no masses, there is a couple of extremists or crusaders who
want to convert the PHP pragmatic infidels. The masses is quiet and is
trying to work, to contribute to pear, to help with patches, ideas or
supporting our users (that said, Justin's initial approach has my
full respect).

That's a very bad news. You are one of the most active contributor, and
also one of the best (technically and socially), we will miss you (in
case I did not manage to convince you to stay :).

The timing is good but the time is bad. People not active in PEAR try to
tell us what to do and are partially the cause why this list is more a
flame factory than what it should be, a source of inspirations.
