No no, I was at the same time discussing this issue on IRC :) and we
figured there's a lot to change with PEPr and you are right about
saying that I have underestimated the amount of work with HTTP_Request
(API-wise, code-wise, and dependency-wise).
I thought it would be better to wait after as we could get a clear
idea and perhaps make a decision that is going to stay (For instance
if we decide that there will be only one package (then doing the whole
HTTP_Request2 release would then become useless).
The reason I said we should hold until after the elections is that we
will be able to have defined guidelines on how to interact and operate
with those issues because HTTP_Request is not the only package which
is PHP4 and stopping other packages from being E_STRICT. Therefore, I
thought it would save both of us time.
And I am not tying your arms (I didn't imply that I was being elected
in the previous email and I'm not considering being elected until I
am) The main problem here I believe is that if we decide to make a
move and it's later changed.
By the way .. I am interested in helping you or anyone with rolling
HTTP_Request2, anytime I will help I just want to make sure we don't
step into soft grounds then later regret our move :P We can take the
discussion off the list in order to find a good deployment strategy
then we bring it back on the list once we have set a good working plan
on how to work the HTTP_Request php4 issue out.
Sorry if it sounded bad to you, I didn't mean to be rude and yes, it's
something we have to get working, and I agree that one night is way
too short for a good, solid plan/architecture fo this)

Hi, David Coallier wrote: Well then we'll wait after the elections as the elected will have to decide upon rules for the rules and way of proceeding with pepr, new packages (refactored to php5) etc. I have a running version now of HTTP_Request2 but yes, Net_Socket & Net_Curl are php4, thus stopping us from going further. Let's put that discussion on hold until after the elections. So instead of trying to cooperate with me you hope to twist my arms after the elections.
