David, Alexey is the maintainer of HTTP_Request. Why don't you try to
get together with him to make a E_STRICT solution for Joe's problem?
PEPr-ing or GROUP-ing this issue is not the way to go here. As Alexey
said, he is willing to "cooperate" and to provide help. A v2 of a
package is always something that the maintainer has to decide. Only if
he isn't active anymore, the PEAR Group should decide something about a
v2.
