Heino, you've been around PEAR long enough to know that none of the core developers care about fairness :). You need to take into account the history of the personalities you're dealing with. I can offer some advice: release your Mail_Mime with incredible documentation and host it on sourceforge, or set up your own pearweb server, release it on phpclasses, send it to hotscripts, and all the other places that people look for solutions. People will still check PEAR first, but if they don't find what they're looking for, they will look further. You can still help the thousands of users who might need your class by making sure it's out there, and by writing articles on how to use it and why it is better than Mail_Mime from PEAR. In the process, not only will people see it, but you will get helpful feedback, including "why doesn't it do XXX?" queries to make it even better. In time, if it really is better, the users will start asking "why isn't this in PEAR?" Then it's quite possible that Richard would come back to you, or at the very least, implement the features that you really want because everybody else wants them too. This is the exact strategy we used for phpDocumentor, and it works. I've noticed a number of packages that are worthy of consideration for PEAR that have been downright snubbed which are still well-written and useful - I have talked with Josh in the past jokingly about the possibility of hosting another pearweb at phpdorks.net. This would be a place that packages which should be in pear but aren't due to the elitism could have a home. Does this interest you at all? It seems that there are more and more good PEAR-related packages which could use a centralized install server. Regards, Greg
