Slight correction :)
There is still a difference and that is the (possible) loading of the compiling engine. From what I have gleaned from the lists (correct me if I'm wrong), the compiler is still included if there is no compiling.
The Compiler is only included if the timestamps on the source and target are different (Eg. when you change the template). - With 'raw' templates, the code doesnt even get that far.., it just concludes the source and target are the same...
This is a large bit of code and can slow down a page request.
Hell the compiler eats CPU's alive if you use it ;) Regards Alan
