a nice compile() method that simply returns the template should be the base method.
Trying to use the common template API - $template->open($file), open, leaves the door open to optionally compiling, but at least determining that a file exists..
Perhaps Paul could have a go at de-flexying the base template? It's way too customized for flexy,
Yeah I've stripped it down a bit more.. - letting the compiler factory deterimine if compilation is needed (and hence whether to load that baggage..) It would be good to isolate what else needs to go.. - there may be some justification for keeping some of it, that needs explaination.. the code he strips (and adds) should give a
good idea of what is not generic template code, but is specific to flexy, as well as what is missing. Maybe Stephan could comment on how hard it would be to extend "Template" to do patTemplate as well?
It would be interesting to hear if pat could be moulded in there.. - and what would be involved.. (although I dont know much about pat..) - WACT would be more interesting ;) Regard Alan
