FYI: I just wanted to inform the entire php community of this merger
project, but everything that is not general should probably only be
mailed to the pear-dev mailinglist (Alex and I allready got a complaint
:-) )

Obviously the aim is to have what ever comes out of the merger as the
only DB abstraction layer. There will obviously be a some time of
coexistance. I think if what comes out of the merger is of good enough
quality it should replace the old PEAR DB in the long run (note: "in the
long run"). So you are right to say that a brought support for this
needs to be there in the PEAR organization.
Obviously the original PEAR DB code will remain for any one to use.
Anyways since Stig is back he can maybe get the official pear "voting
mill" going on making a decision?
I will also start a poll on the metabase egroup site.
