Hi,
I am contemplating going to FOSDEM.
One interesting possibility would be to maybe meet some of the people
interested in the merger. I would also like to learn a bit more about
PEAR's error handling as error handling seems to be the most difficult
thing to do right. I want to keep BC in terms of the errors returned for
both packages and I also want to make the right choice as to the default
error handling for the merged version. Also I must admit that so far I
have mostly used very simplistic error handling.
Anyways with all decisions that have to be made we have to keep 3 things
in mind
1) keeping BC with Metabase
2) keeping BC with PEAR DB
3) making the "best" method the default for the merged version
so far I have mainly just quickly thrown in as many PEAR DB functions
into Metabase to proof that all of the PEAR DB functions can fit in
there quite easily. Obviously this sometimes is a bit inefficient and
has resulted in a fair amount of method bloat.
Anyways I would really like to hear a reply by some of the PEAR DB folks
(Stig, Tomas) or some other PEAR people if they will have some time to
talk about this project.
Best regards,
Lukas Smith
