Hi Lukas,
yes. Having the frontend basically is the reason why functions for
adding/removing users didn´t make it into the class yet. You can change
the appearance by placing a new set of templates and images in a
subdirectory and then simply change the variable that determines which
skin to use. Anyway, if the class makes it into PEAR I plan to rewrite
the frontend completely so that it can easily be translated into other
languages (some german phrases are still hardcoded in the scripts).

Using the XML file is an option, you can also pass an array with
configuration settings to the class. If you use the class in several
applications, you can also make a small XML file containing all settings
that should be equal in all applications and set application-specific
settings with an array afterwards, overriding the settings from the XML
file.
Caching the XML file, however, is on my todo list.
