Yup, you're completely right - these are also things I'd like to see in the
Auth package :)
Maybe it would be good to have a PEAR::Connectors class which provides
wrappers to all the datasources that PEAR currently provides: DB, SOAP, LDAP,
XML, ... and which is instantiated by e.g. the Auth package or the new Perm
package to connect to the respecitve datasource. This requires a naming
scheme, similar to the PEAR::DB DSN, but for all those datasources in PEAR.
