I find black to be to "underground"..
The colored line below the menu items is pretty neat, and the
searchbox looks great.
I however think we are very near bike-shedding here.
If we can agree on the basic structure of the layout, and color
scheme, we need to look into the site structure next.
Once that is finalized we can start implementing it and tweaking the
css later/while implementing it - otherwise I fear nothing will
happen.

I don't "get it". Seems like useless content with the only purpose of
showing off effects.
