Hi Guys, I've posted a variation on Daniel's download page. This one has a different take on the header. More 'bling' as Hannes put it. Hopefully not too gaudy, but it could probably stand to be toned down. It could also be made shorter. Let me know if there are any aspects that you like and/or if there are other things you'd like me to try. http://ambitious.ca/php/download-4.png Personally I think that the black and purple are rather eye-catching.
Not sure how best to discuss the differences without getting too much into personal preferences but for what it's worth, I prefer simple over bling, and light (blue) over dark (black).
Stewart, I think some of the ideas you put into the header there show some promise. The sharper look of the black is nice... perhaps we could use some darker contrasting shades in whichever we go with (a darker purple or the black with accents).
I do like the ideas your search-1.png offers, and wonder how best to make this happen without killing the servers. We've been making strides towards SQLite availability on mirrors (at ~70% with) although well over half of the remaining 30% do have pdo_sqlite so that's something we can think about. Eventually we'll be at 100%, with or without a wrapper utilizing both.
I agree. This could be a very cool and important feature if you guys can figure out the feasibility. Anyone I've asked about PHP.net indicates that the search is _the_ thing they use on the site. We can't overemphasize the attention this feature should get. Daniel
