Things like this tend to be like snow balls - they start as a small
innocent little thing, and end up being quite disastrous. I never
expected people to use references to build data structures (my own and
Andi's fault, if we did, we would have probably not introduced them in
the first place). If you encourage people to do it by putting it in the
manual in such a suggestive way, more and more people would use it, and
the day when people complain that it leaks like hell when inside a loop
won't be too far away.
ok. perhaps the manual isn´t the right place, but it *should* be mentioned
in a tutorial (maybe in another section) to encourage advanced users,
to use an advanced feature
when I´ve completed my work I´m currently on, I´ll have real-life
data an actual leakage, that´ll probably help to point out if
it that leakage could turn out as a bad bad thing
