We are not talking about our personal preferences here, obviously if we are on this list we have likely made the choice to use open source solutions. What Mike is giving is a reason why "people" would and do choose ASP and other non-opensource solutions, he's not trying to say one is better than the other. Sure the Microsoft solution may be less customizable, but if it gets the job done that "con" becomes a "pro". Not everyone out there appreciates or can even use the benefits of open source like we do. Frankly sometimes the downsides of open source software frustrate me as well. It's great there are 10,000 ways we can get the job done, but when it all comes down to it all I want is the job done and if Bill has chosen a way and it works then some people will appreciate that part of it being taken care of for them. Please don't argue that open source is better to me, I agree with you and have chosen PHP. You can't deny though that there are advantages and disadvantages such as this case where the advantage of many options comes with the disadvantage of having to manage those options.
