Listen, I don't *WANT* to distribute my software (C/C++) as open source.
I am *NOT* part of the opensource community, I do *NOT* subscribe to the
opensource ideals, yet linux is one of my target markets. The lack of
standards on linux is going to be a problem for the rollout of commercial
packages that depend on certain libraries that have a gazillion versions.
Why NOT have a linux that has some kind of standard set of libraries whose
behaviour you can depend on? (terminal, threading, libc, c++ libraries, just
to name a few.) There's not a single reason why standarisation would be
harmful.
And nowhere in my previous statement did I mention Microsoft.
And I salute all those opensource programmers that work 9 hours a day on
opensource
projects and still become millionaires. If I could only figure out how they
do that,
then maybe I'd go opensource too...
