Hi Rasmus Lerdorf!
On 08/11/05 12:06 you wrote:
I actually believe that my opinion does not count much here (mainly

Since this is an RC, for me it would be fine to have an actual alpha
version bundled. That does not harm anyone. We still have to fix the
REST stuff before doing so. Any other issues (like design problems and
stuff) can definitly wait until the next RC.

Anyway, fine too, since we are not actually talking about 5.1 final.

Should be done, actually, but it does not seem to be an option for
5.1RC, neither than for 5.1 in general. Since PEAR 1.4 will drop XML_RPC
actually, I don't feel that we should release a 1.4 non-alpha still
supporting RPC.

Would also be fine with me. It's an RC, so for testing purpose. I can't
believe that people will download and install 5.1RC1 just for testing
PEAR. So, why not?

Sorry, but I hope that this will not happen. Actually the PEAR Installer
is a feature that's delivered with PHP itself. Dropping it between 5.0
and 5.1 would make a BC break.

I'd prefer the 1. version, too. Actually I'll have a couple of days free
from work, when I'm back from Norway and will be playing around with the
PEAR Installer anyway next week.
So, if you need someone for testing, feel free to email me!
Cheers!
