I prefer it than keeping this dependency.Hey guys, Not a good situation where the PEAR dependency is slowing down the PHP release. Maybe the best way to resolve this in future is to have a "self-booting" script in the PHP distro that grabs the "to-be-used" PEAR installer from pear. Hopefully something so simple that it wouldn't need updating :)You mean like running: php -r "include 'http://go-pear.org/';" It's been there for years, and I don't understand why make install-pear target doesn't do that instead of bundling.
Thanks.Anyway, I saw Rasmus' commit. I think it's a decent option for now. Can you please review it and let me know when I can go ahead and roll RC1? I am having some minor arm surgery tomorrow but I'll try and read email (if I wake up from the anesthetic :) and worst case, I'll ask someone else to roll. In any case, seems to me that it's best to roll on Monday and not tomorrow to give at least a day to review what we have.Good luck with the surgery :)
Hope we get php-5.1.0 final out as soon as possible.Yep Andi
