No, I understand his point. He is taking his ball and going home, which is fine with me, but it causes problems for existing PEAR packages. Current PEAR packages are make heavy use of PHPUnit. Removing PHPUnit from PEAR will make life difficult for the maintainers and users of these packages.
It makes little sense to continue to maintain anything here.
Since we can't (or currently aren't allowed to) create dependencies outside of PEAR,
Maybe it's time to change that rule then... there is not a real reason not to allow that is there? Derick
