If you had read the PEAR archives and history (yes it is huge), you have noticed that PePr made its way to PEAR. Also the initial role of PEAR Group was about deciding which packages can get in or not, when the community was not able to decide. Another job was to setup the basic rules to let the developers manage the PEAR project, that's why we have very few things to publish as most of new ideas or proposals are in the mailing list and in pepr. Our role is now only an administrative. > The last bit of news on the PEAR site is for November 2005. > > The Quality Assurance <http://pear.php.net/qa/> page is > nice and > informative, but again hasn't been updated since March 2004. That's a problem that has to be solved. I'm very unhappy by the current situation about PEAR QA and especially the core team. Some of them should be removed from the list as they did absolutely nothing. Some will certainly never do anything. > I have done many open source projects - > http://www.phpsupporttickets.com/ is mine (though this has a > commercial release now) and the main thing is to keep your users > happy, without the users then there is no project. For someone new in PEAR, you are making fast conclusions. We have many feedbacks and bug reports... > I'm sure this has already been said, but we wouldn't know :) Anyway > of my soapbox now, Im loving PEAR and what I have been able to > achieve in a relatively small amount of time. Is it not the proof that we suceeded in one of our goal? Provide a set of small and manageable components as well as independent? I think it is. And this is why PHPUnit has had to move. The needs for a huge application have nothing to do with our needs. Now, if you have proposals or idea. I would suggest to take a big breath, let us the time to read, and post mails by topic or idea, outside this discussion. Cheers, -- Pierre
