Nowhere is it documented that the following script is used to install PEAR
on Windows.
php -n -r "include 'http://go-pear.org';"
It's only when one inadvertently goes to http://go-pear.org to
see how the
PHP install script works do you realize that this is how it's accomplished.
Its most annoying the PEAR support is sorely lacking for Windows.
Further the go-pear install script makes the rather naïve assumption that my
PHP and resulting PEAR folder are on the C:\ drive. Mine happened to be on
the D:\ drive, where I do all development.
So during the install prompt, I say to install at D:\php. The installer puts
some elements in D:\php\pear, but creates another folder C:\php4\pear and
installs other pear there-for a total disconnect.
My advice is to immediately disable the go-pear script for Windows installs
or fix it.
