Try copernic for searching problems. It will search deja and other newsgroup and search engine databases. It's the first place I go when there is a problem I can't figure out. As for the web site, www.php.net, as a manual and a source for great php information, it's not the greatest. I have had a really hard time finding certain things that are on the site, like the number_format() function for instance, I had a hard time tracking that one down. I am going to unsubscribe from this list, because it is turning into a big waste of time. I think I will just do the digest thing. Maybe someone should start a moderated list that really easy problems will get booted. I don't know who would want to do that, but you never know. First of all, the archives are almost useless, the search is so stupid it's hard to find the answers to almost anything, and secondly, the search url isn't on the list any more, so where does joe newbie go to find out? If you don't wanna help somebody, then don't. Keep your elitist opinions to yourself, if you're so damned good at it what are you doing on this list anyway? -Gfunk [-= Visit my website! http://www.gfunk007.com/ - ICQ:74477509 =-] ----- Original Message ----- From: Andreas Pour <pour@mieterra.com> To: <M.vanderMerwe@expro.shell.co.uk> Cc: <J.Wesbeek@DoWebWeDo.com>; <php-general@lists.php.net> Sent: Wednesday, July 26, 2000 7:48 PM Subject: Re: [PHP] I thought this was a PHP developers list > M.vanderMerwe@expro.shell.co.uk wrote: > > > > I read the manual, or at least the parts of it I was interested in, but > > I've learnt a lot by just sitting and reading the mails on this list. > > In a few months all the people on this list will know more about PHP. > > It's a growing thing.
