If they want to contribute to a foundation we have a problem as
there's *no* infrastructure for such a thing in PEAR as if right now.
Yeah, I know, hence my comment.
I think you're missing the point. All this is supported and we hope it
does and will happen. What is being proposed is setting up a system to
facilitate such connections, not to regulate them.
Nope not missing the point, just jumping in the stream halfway down. Am I totally insane or is this *EXACTLY* what the wishlist link is for on developers' profile page? Why not put something simply saying "Are you a company wishing to hire this developer to develop a specific feature for this package? If so, the developer requires $X per hour for special requests."
This thread is blowing things out of proportion a little I think ...
1.) We want companies to pay us to code for PEAR
2.) We want companies to give back code/bug fixes/enhancements to PEAR
3.) If they want to write off said contributes we need to set up a foundation
Simple as that ...

My other reason for pointing this out is that having companies
support packages is a *good* thing, but we need to come up with a
strategy on how this is to be done, who gets paid, etc.
Why? I think it's a non-issue. It's not like someone who nobody
knew could get stuff through to cvs without it being scrutinized by
someone in the pear-dev group. And the pear group has no way to
make an organization to hire a specific person for a job.
