Somehow I think you only have something bad to say about this :-)
I'm talking about small features worth 100 - 200 dollars not something
more, and no I'm not under selling me, small features are small features
and doing something open source is in most of the cases is something you
do for fun, outside of work time and thus often the person in question
does not have the means to do things legally (tax wise), which of course
the buyer wants and so buying gifts in those little cases is good IMHO.
I am also a owner of a company but well the thread isn't about boosting
who feeds more people ;), it's about couple of ways for OS devs to get
paid for their hobby work from companies or individuals, be it with
money or gifts, I for one see nothing wrong with getting 200 dollars
worth of books instead of 200 dollars, but ohh well so it goes.
As said earlier by my self, we already have wishlists + email form so
developers can be easily contacted so both options are open (giving
gifts and get in touch with devs to talk about bigger features and/or
money payments/contracts) so I doubt we need to add anything more, plus
we already have this page here:
