If so, why does nobody want to apply your idea of HOF?
including those who've been in the higher ranks of the old "who fixes ..." list ... this kind of stuff leads to 'wrong' motivation, as you start to 'fix' bugs to get ahead of someone else on that list. this leads to new bugs as 'fixes' are sometimes done in a hurry and stuff like that (aka fugbixing instead of bug fixing), and seeing that the top people are in the thousands while you hardly ever reach the hundred, well, it is not *that* motivating bugfixing has to be taken serious, if you are in doubt whether a patch really fixes the issue you should share your ideas or even leave it alone and have someone else fix it. having things like a "bugfixers scorelist" or even a "hall of fame" is contra productive in this case as it is more about fixing egos then bugs sure, we are always in demand for new bug hunters and fixers, but we prefer to have less contributors, but with the right motivation than with just *some* motivation -- Six Offene Systeme GmbH http://www.six.de/ i.A.
