Or not. Actually an hall of fame can work much better in *.php.net because it certainly can drive more users to see it and feel motivated to participate much more.It is an irrefutable fact that something that you tried worked very well in a *special* case (i.e. on your special web site). But it may *not neccessarily* work on another web site like www.php.net.I don't measure experience with opinions, only with facts. If I tried something that worked well, that is an irrefutable fact.Bjorn, your greatest problem is that you systematically underestimate my real world experience on the subject and completely ignore that what IYes, because I think that you systematically *OVER*estimate your real world experience and in the same second you are *UNDER*estimating the experience of other people.
I am not telling you just to guess. You may just use the scientific method and prove or deny thesis based on experiments. If something does not work, you need to study and figure why so you can avoid the problems. Once you reach a conclusion, just try it confirm that the conclusion is valid.it did not work, you need to understand exactly why, not make wild-guesses that are not certain and assume they are necessarily right.I don't make any wild-guesses. I'm only trying to show you that
you should differentiate between measures (i.e. HOF) and the terrain (i.e. www.php.net or phpclasses.upperdesign.com) they are applied on. If terrains are different, the measures may not neccessarily be of the same prosperity. Everybody who has more than 1 brain cell should recognize this. Obviously you don't.I regret the fact that once you see that you are loosing arguments you depart to personal insult to fight reason. What do you want to people to think about your intelligence when you resort to personal insult in public?
You seem to forget that it was not even me that brought the idea of a hall of fame to this thread. Go again to this page: http://pear.php.net/package-stats.php And compare it with this page (follow the mirror links if you are not logged): http://www.phpclasses.org/browse.html/top/top.html What else does not one the first miss from the second? Maybe more than just one hall of fame, probably with the names of the authors to make it even more teasing to all developers.Bjorn, I did not invent anything I applied principles of basic human needs that are well known and learned in any marketing school. If so, why does nobody want to apply your idea of HOF? Doesn't that give you any thoughts (besides of persecution mania part MCMXXVIX)?
Honestly I am happy for your success (whatever that means) but you were the one that mentioned that you failed to make an hall of fame succeed in a site of yours. The irony is on you because you read all the theory and could not put in practice.I this would be true, I wouldn't be so successful.
Given the fact that only you were the one to state your opinion that hall of fame would not work in *.php.net when I present facts about the PHP Classes hall of fame that has basically the same type of user base, isn't it ironic that PEAR people put that package hall of fame? Could they be so wrong too, and you be the only one to see the light?Yep, especially when those people like you are not able to differentiate.Manuel, I give credits to your suggestions. But obviously, in the *special* case of *.php.net some suggestions are really bad ideas. Sorry to say that, but I think so.I don't mind your opinion. I don't care about opinions when there are clear facts that defeat them.
Bjorn, honestly, take some vacation, you seem to be needing them, badly! -- Regards, Manuel LemosJust an hint, pay more attention. You are missing the whole point because you are so obcessed with contradicting that you do not see the fact.I will print out your mails, pin them over my bed and praise you.
