Not at all. If someone is using PHP in real-time environment, that doesn't
mean we should rush and rewrite all PHP to adhere to real-time
requirements. That only says we are so good that we made PHP be real-time
without even thinking about it :)
If? Watch the php module penetration on the market (cgi not mentioned)! Watch the number of greater sites using PHP. Whenever I find some time to bash my way to the website jungle I encounter more and more large sites using PHP.
I agree on most points of Kristian.
In my opinion C++ and Java are even no really competitors on the web market, PHP is the solution to favor. It fits Intra- and Extranet needs, while almost completely not distributable for single workstation use.
As far as there is a XSLT proc and the other things zend currently plans PHP will become even more attractive to large scale projects.
I don´t know why you (stas, andrei(not sure) and zeev (not sure too) ) underrate PHP in a manner I don´t understand. I think Kristian and the others taking part at this thread won´t force PHP to fit their personal needs...
We should collect some info on the points of controversy and matching right now. I´ve the feeling that some points are discussed over and over redundantly.
