Direction for the Function Renaming Effort

I have to say that I am glad to see that the interest in this issue has picked up! When I started trying to resurrect the thread, I assumed that the community was in agreement on this issue. A few recent messages have reminded me that this was just an assumption on my part - we should ensure that the community agrees with the idea first. I would suggest that we rework the initial post that I made on this topic, incorporating the things that have been discussed recently. This gets kicked around by everyone interested. Once we are happy with it, we present it to the developers. Over the course of the next day or two, I would like to get all of the details hammered out - I know that most of us cannot sustain a long, boring or circular argument on what to do. Hopefully, we can get the decisions made in the next day or two, get dev group approval shortly after and then get working. How does this sound? Could everyone who is interested and has not expressed an opinion on this issue, please do so - a simple apache-style vote of... +1 for "Yes, we should rename the functions" 0 for "Oh, why not - I don't really care, but i wanted to say something" -1 for "We have better things to spend our time one" ...is just fine. --zak
