Sascha, with all respect to you (and I have plenty of it), I
don't see how that matters. Other than hinting "hey, look,
we're so good we invented this!" it's only confusing. What's
the benefit of the distinction in daily use of PHP?
If I terribly simplify the matter, there are basically two
different approaches:
* C is nice, but PHP isn't C. Go, underscore, go!
* PHP is C's nephew, and should be as close to it as possible.
I don't see where concurrent existence of strlen with str_pad
fits in this model. If we agree that the C logic is names like
strlen, strdup and alike, str_pad doesn't fit in it at all.
