It is the old chicken-and-egg problem. Programmers aren't getting trained in PHP because there are no jobs; and there are no jobs.....I have also headed into this difficulty getting started in PHP. I have been to trade shows where no vendor is looking for PHP or even has heard of it. Almost all are looking for ASP first, then Java, C++, maybe CF but no mention of PHP. Part of the problem is there is no marketing engine behind PHP that works to promote PHP technology.
