First of all, I want to rule out using Windows anything for mission critical web sites. So, if you are doing clustered windows (the only way that you can kind of do a windows solution -- granted you come in every day and restart any number of nodes), you can also add the cost of windows to each node. This cost ads up very fast. Before you know it, you have enough money to pay a progammer salary for a year. Not to mention with a network like that you had better have one or two windows admins around. *nix + php + (pick your DB) is the cheaper solution in my book. It definately is cheaper in my company -- all things considered -- not to mention, there is a better pick of PHP programmers than there are CFM programmers. Like someone said on the list yesterday, anyone who knows C or perl can pick PHP up very easily -- and there are a ton of C and perl people around, not that there isn't already an arsonal of PHP people around. -jeremy brand --- "Rodino, Justin Bain" <justin@goldendome.com> > wrote: >I think their comparrisons are completely foolish.
