Hi Richard, To be blunt, this is the only part of your post that I find a bit naive. Every single PHP application out there requires tons of installation tweaking. You have to tell it where to find its configuration, you have to set the configuration, if it requires other things, you have to provide them, and if you don't you'll get weird errors and won't know why. Only the PEAR installer provides some level of dependency checking, and configuration - have you looked at the replacement feature in package.xml? In addition, future plans include allowing user input for setting things like database user and password automatically in configuration that would otherwise require hand-coding On the contrary, the ability to install a package is PEAR's greatest strength. Also, you don't need a command-line, the web installer is designed for that. Admittedly, it's not considered stable, and that is an issue. But let's get the picture straight as to where the problems are :). Greg
