Hi, I think it has to be made clear that PEAR is here to help PHP developers. It is also here to help PHP usage spread even more by providing ready to use classes that do the job. Well, at least that's my point of view. Now, it has to be determined whether it is fulfilling this goal efficiently. In my opinion, no. But that's not because of the tools provided, or because of the coding standards, etc... It's because PEAR is too closed. It was not like that at the beginning. I remember when Adam Daniel and I first proposed HTML_Table, it was not even written :) Same thing when we proposed HTML_QuickForm. And nobody objected that there already were 2 packages to deal with HTML forms, even if our approach was probably close to OOH_Form, being object-oriented too. In the end, it is users' choices. If people prefer to use HTML_Template_Sigma rather than HTML_Template_ITX because it is faster, has more features and it is easier to use, then give them the right to choose. That's what I choose and I am glad to have the choice. It is time to open the gates ! We have the tools, the rules, the basics, the people. Let's see if we can handle the flow :) And if the flow doesn't come, then let's blame the community. I think I am going to learn Python... Bertrand Mansion Mamasam
